Scholastic Ent., producer of the award-winning series Clifford The Big Red Dog, is going back to a time when the pooch was not so big with Cliffords Puppy Days, an all-new animated show for kids 4-7. PBS KIDS has ordered 25 episodes of the new series, which will premiere in fall 2003.
Like Clifford The Big Red Dog, Cliffords Puppy Days is based on Scholastics best-selling childrens books by Norman Bridwell and builds on pro-literacy and community-based lessons. The series takes place in a bustling urban setting that should provide plenty of fodder for Clifford-size adventures. Actor Henry Winkler will provide the voice of a city bird.
Additional funding for the series has been provided by a Ready To Learn cooperative agreement from the U.S. Department of Education through the Public Broadcasting Service, Public Television Viewers and PBS.
