The Flash-animated, educational pre-school series Bobinogs, which bowed last Autumn, will enjoy an extended run in the U.K. Produced by Cardiff-based animation studio Siriol Prods., the show has been recommissioned by BBC Wales.
Bobinogs, written by Roderick Hunt, is produced by Sioned Wyn Roberts and Elen Rhys at BBC Wales with animation direction by Siriol’s head of flash animation, Mike Price. It marks BBC Wales’ first-ever program in English specifically aimed at pre-school children.
The Bobinogs, Nib, Bobin and Ogi, live in a bobble hat in the village of Abernog. They are mischievous, but likeable, characters who sometimes need help as they encounter everyday problems. When they don’t know what to do, they look through the bobinoculars to see what real children do and try to put that information to good use.
Season one of Bobinogs was the first commission for Siriol’s Flash animation studio, set up last year. The new facility in Cardiff operates alongside Siriol’s stop motion studio and also complements the company’s adult animation division, Blunt Films. The Flash unit created the title sequence for Knife and Wife, Blunt Film’s half-hour comedy for Channel 4, and has several other projects in the pipeline.
