Nickelodeon has acquired the series Miss Spider, which spun off from Nelvana’s 3D special Miss Spider’s Sunny Patch Kids. The 20×30 series will be accompanied by two more specials for broadcast in the U.S. beginning next summer.
Miss Spider’s Sunny Patch Kids is based on the best-selling book by children’s author David Kirk. The hour-long primetime special premiered on March 31 and was the No. 1-rated kids program in its time slot. Brooke Shields of TV’s Suddenly Susan provided the voice of the title arachnid.
The series is aimed at kids’ 4-7 and encourages young viewers to "get in touch with their inner bug" and explore the wonders of nature. It is currently being offered to international broadcasters at MIPCOM.
