Hong Kong action sensation Jet Li (Cradle 2 The Grave, The One, Kiss of the Dragon) is famous for feats of athleticism that even some video game characters would have a hard time pulling off. Now hes becoming a video game character himself in Sony Computer Entertainment Americas upcoming title Rise to Honor, set to hit retail this winter.
While hes not the first movie star to lend his talents to interactive entertainment, Li is doing more than just providing voice tracks (in English and Mandarin Chinese) and having his image scanned into the computer. The martial artist is involved in extensive motion capture sessions and providing creative input regarding game design.
With the help of master fight choreographer Cory Yuen, SCEA incorporated many of Lis signature moves into a unique 360° fight systemone that puts players in the middle of the game by allowing them to simultaneously battle multiple enemies in any direction, at any time.
The games story line revolves around family, deceit and honor in a chain of dangerous events extending from Hong Kong to San Francisco. When notorious Hong Kong crime boss Chiang is assassinated, trusted bodyguard Kit Yun (Li) is charged with delivering a message to his employers estranged daughter in San Francisco. In carrying out the task, Kit becomes entangled in a web of alliances and hidden agendas that unveil a great struggle between his sense of duty and honor.
Rise to Honor will be available this January exclusively for PlayStation 2.
