A recent installment of NPR’s Fresh Air featured an interview with Matt Groening in which the Simpsons creator noted that the Fox News Network threatened to sue the animated comedy over a parody he and crew refused to cut.
Faced with the complications that would arise from suing the Fox Broadcast Network, Fox News reportedly backed down but shook a finger at the Simpsons team for including a news crawl, which it said can be confusing for viewers.
This summer, the Fox News Network filed suit against political humorist Al Franken for content included in his best-selling book Lies and the Lying Liars Who. That suit was thrown out.
