Flashbang Studios Wins Project Goldmaster

Patterned after HBO’s Project Greenlight, Project Goldmaster from Cartoon Network and America Online is designed to give an up-and-coming game development studio the opportunity to create an original title featuring a Cartoon Network character. As awards were handed out Wednesday night during the Independent Games Festival at the Game Developers Conference in San Jose, Calif., it was announced that Flashbang Studios was this year’s winner.

Beesly’s Buzzwords, Flashbang’s causal spelling game, was a finalist in the sixth annual Independent Games Festival. While the title didn’t win, the studio made out quite nicely with the chance to bring a Cartoon Network star to gamers everywhere. Upon accepting the honor, a Flashbang representative commented, "This is cool. We’ve always wanted to make a Baby Stewie or Meatwad racing game."

Flashbang’s journey through the process will be chronicled on the AOL Journal blogging service. Gamers will be able to learn about the creation of a game through video vignettes, early storyboards, screen images and interviews with Flashbang team members. In addition, AOL Games members will have an opportunity to monitor and discuss the game development process at AOL Games Keyword: Goldmaster.

Flashbang Studios was founded in 2003 to develop accessible, addictive games for players of all ages. The studio plans to broaden the casual games market with fresh 3D and physics-based gameplay in its forthcoming titles.
