DECODE Makes the Grade with Undergrads U.K. Sale

Toronto-based DECODE Ent. signed a deal to bring the irreverent 2D animated series Undergrads to top U.K. teen broadcaster Trouble. The sale follows on the heels of DECODE’s pact with Hat Trick Prods. to co-produce Bromwell High, a primetime animated series for Channel 4.

Trouble has picked up the 13×30 Undergrads, which aired in the U.S. on Comedy Central and on TELETOON Canada where it built a sizeable following among the 14-26 demographic. The show will join the lineup on “animaTe,” Trouble’s animation initiative set for launch this June.

Created by university student Pete Williams, Undergrads follows Nitz, Gimpy, Rocko and Cal, former high school pals who attempt to maintain their camaraderie while struggling to survive their first year at different colleges. DECODE holds television and video distribution rights to the co-production with MTV Animation.
