The wealth was spread evenly among various TV and cable networks as this year’s Creative Arts Daytime Emmy Awards were handed out on Saturday. The ceremony, which took place simultaneously at the Marriot Marquis Hotel in New York City and at the Grand Ballroom at Hollywood and Highland in Los Angeles, honored programs broadcast nationally between 2 a.m. and 6 p.m. on American TV and cable.
Nick Jr.’s Little Bill was the winner in the Outstanding Children’s Animated Program category, while PBS’ heavyweight Sesame Street was awarded the Outstanding Pre-School Children’s Series Emmy as well as five other trophies for costume design, directing, multiple-camera editing, lighting direction and sound mixing (live-action and animation).
In other categories: Composer Richard Wolf’s score for Kids’ WB! toon Static Shock won the Outstanding Achievement in Music Direction and Composition for a Drama Series, and Joe Alaskey took home the Outstanding Performer in an Animated Program honor for his work on Cartoon Network’s Duck Dodgers. Cartoon Network’s He-Man and the Masters of the Universe was the winner in the Sound Editing, Live Action and Animation category, and PBS’ Between the Lions won the Outstanding Writing in a Children’s Series trophy. NBC/Discovery Kids’ freshman series Tutenstein picked up the award in the Outstanding Special Class Animated program.
