A three-disc set with all three RoboCop films hits video shelves today. Released by MGM, the tongue-in-cheek sci-fi series features masterful stop-motion animation by vfx guru Phil Tippet, whose directorial debut, Starship Troopers 2: Hero of the Federation, went on sale last week.
RoboCop (1987) stars Peter Weller as a police officer who is gunned down by bloodthirsty criminals only to return as a cybernetic super cop with the prime directive of cleaning up a futuristic Detroit. The DVD includes commentary by director Paul Verhoeven (Starship Troopers, Flesh and Blood), producer Jon Davidson and writer Edward Neumeier, as well as the documentary Flesh and Steel: The Making of RoboCop and the vintage featurettes Shooting RoboCop and Making RoboCop. There are also deleted scenes, a film-to-storyboard comparison and a photo gallery.
The set, which also includes RoboCop 2 (1990) and RoboCop 3 (1993), lists for $39.96.
