Activision Births Ogres and Dronkeys

The next generation of swamp dwellers will take center stage in Activision’s Shrek: Ogres and Dronkeys, a new game slated to debut this fall exclusively for the Nintendo DS. The title will have players taking on wild adventures with the energetic triplets spawned from Shrek and Fiona, as well as the dronkeys, the cross-species offspring of Donkey and Dragon.

A host of popular titles based on Shrek and other DreamWorks Animation films have contributed to Activision’s success over the last couple of years, and the company is dedicated to working very closely with the toon factory. After signing a long-term licensing deal in late 2005, the Santa Monica, Calif.-based game publisher and distributor last year set up a dedicated studio facility on the DreamWorks campus. Activision posted net revenues of $1.5 billion for the fiscal year ended March 31, 2007.

Shrek: Ogres and Dronkeys is being developed by WayForward Technologies, which has created a number of cartoon-based games including THQ’s SpongeBob SquarePants: Creature from the Krusty Krab and Warner Bros. Interactive’s E3 standout, Looney Tunes: Duck Amuck. Shrek: Ogres and Dronkeys will be rated for ‘E’ for Everyone. For more information on Activision titles, go to www.activision.com.
