Electronic Arts Inc. has announced the launch of a new, dedicated online programming channel for fans of its popular Command & Conquer real-time strategy video game franchise. The flagship program, BattleCast PrimeTime, plays like a sportscast complete with expert commentary on featured multiplayer matches. The channel and its original programming are being developed at EA Los Angeles, where the game series is produced.
BattleCast PrimeTime is being hyped as the ultimate forum for Command & Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars players. Here, advanced players can show off their skills as newbies observe, study, and learn from the best. Matches will be broken down and analyzed by the game’s designers, and the show’s hosts will offer multiplayer match highlights and detailed profiles of each of the fans playing in the featured matches. There will also be exclusive interviews with Command & Conquer development team members, news updates surrounding key community events and celebrity guests including Joe Kucan, the actor who originated the role of the infamous Kane in the Command & Conquer series.
The Command & Conquer franchise, which celebrates its 12th anniversary this month, has spawned more a dozen PC titles and has one of the world’s largest and most active fan communities. Collectively, the series has sold more than 25 million units worldwide to date. Tiberium Wars, the latest edition of the game, takes the series back to its roots in the Tiberium Universe and boasts fast, fluid gameplay and a gripping story. The Teen-rated title is available for Xbox 360 PC for the suggested retail price of $49.99.
BattleCast PrimeTime will premiere on Tuesday, August 14 on the official Command & Conquer website at www.commandandconquer.com. Additional programming will be announced at a later date. Program stills and other images can be found at www.info.ea.com.
