Stranglehold Demo Hits Xbox Live

The sheer coolness of John Woo’s Stranglehold game was unveiled at E3 2006, and now gamers can finally get a sense what it must be like to be international film star Chow Yun Fat in one of the action auteur’s high-octane movies. Midway Games today announced that a demo for the award-winning, third-person action adventure title is now available on the Xbox LIVE Marketplace.

Produced in collaboration with Woo’s Tiger Hill Ent., Stranglehold puts players in the role of Inspector Tequila, a character Chow Yun-Fat originated in the influential action flick Hard Boiled. Ensnared by a crime boss with a gripping secret, Tequila is forced to cross the line from sworn duty to bloody revenge. Gamers will be able to engage their enemies with intense cinematic gun battles and cause massive environmental damage in real-time or slow-motion ‘Tequila Time.’

Downloadable demos for PC and PlayStation 3 will be available soon. The full game will be released on August 27 for Xbox 360 and PC, with a PlayStation 3 version to follow on Sept. 17.
