Spectacular Promo Push for Spider-Man

Kids’ WB!, Sony Pictures Television (SPT) and Marvel Studios have launched an extensive marketing and promotional campaign to support the spring 2008 premiere of the highly-anticipated animated series The Spectacular Spider-Man. The show will air during the top-rated Kids’ WB! block on The CW Network.

Produced by Sony Pictures Television’s Culver Ent., The Spectacular Spider-Man picks up Marvel Comics’ Spidey mythology at the beginning of his hero’s journey and finds a 16-year-old Peter Parker struggling with the pressures of teenage life while learning to handle his new-found powers and the various super-villains that threaten the city.

The marketing and promotional campaign will encompass on-air, in-school, online and retail activities. Following fan teasers at WonderCon and Comic-Con, the major push began on Saturday, Sept. 22 during the premiere of the Kids’ WB! 2007 fall lineup. The on-air promotional efforts will be accompanied in early 2008 by a Milk Media Campaign in 85% of all U.S. schools. There will also be an extensive kid-focused online campaign accessible at www.kidswb.com, and a trailer for the series will be featured on Sony Home Entertainment’s Spider-Man 3 DVD, set for release on Oct. 30.

Spider-Man Merchandising L.P. is currently finalizing licensing deals and is in discussions with other industry leaders and key retailers to develop a full licensing and merchandising program to support the series. The limited partnership between Marvel Ent. and Sony Pictures Consumer Products oversees the licensing and merchandising activities for Columbia Pictures’ Spider-Man feature films, as well as the animated series.
