A host of name actors are on board to lend their voices to Disney Channel’s new 2D-animated comedy series Phineas and Ferb, according to The Hollywood Reporter. A sneak peek of the show aired on Aug. 17 following the premiere of the smash hit High School Musical 2. Approximately 10.8 million viewers stuck around for an introduction to the ingenious Phineas Flynn and his resourceful stepbrother, Ferb Fletcher. An encore preview will air on Sept. 28 at 10:45 p.m., and the series will set to premiere in January.
Phineas and Ferb is created by Jeff “Swampy” Marsh, who also serves as exec producer with Dan Povenmire. The musical show revolves around two boys who are all about having reckless fun during summer vacation, while older sister Candace is all about getting them busted. In the sneak peek presentation, ‘Rollercoaster’ had the boys building their own amusement park ride and ‘Candace Loses Her Head’ saw the boys devising a surprise birthday present for big sis during a trip to Mt. Rushmore. The regular voice cast includes Ashley Tisdale, Caroline Rhea, Kelly Hu and Richard O’Brien.
Among the actors tapped for recurring roles on the show are Malcolm McDowell (Heroes), Allison Janney (The West Wing), John O’Hurley (Seinfeld), Jane Carr (Kim Possible) and Barry Bostwick (Spin City). In addition, guest spots will be provided by Sandra Oh (Grey’s Anatomy), Steve Zahn (Rescue Dawn), J.K. Simmons (Spider-Man trilogy), French Stewart (Third Rock from the Sun), Vicki Lawrence (Mama’s Family), Tim Curry (The Wild Thornberrys), Jennifer Grey (Dirty Dancing), talk show host Geraldo Rivera, boxer Evander Holyfield and recording artist Billy Ray Cyrus.
