Spidey faces the biggest threat yet as the latest installment of Sony/Columbia’s blockbuster Spider-Man franchise hits retail on DVD, Blue-ray Disc and PSP UMD. The release is available in several versions including a single-disc release, a two-disc special edition and an HD three-pack featuring all three movies in the trilogy with collectible packaging.
Based on the Marvel Comics series created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, Spider-Man 3 finds Peter Parker finally striking a balance between his devotion to M.J. and his duties as a superhero when his suit begins to change, giving him enhanced powers and a swollen ego. As he struggles with alterations in his own personality, he must also thwart the evil plans of Sandman and Venom, two of the most powerful members of the property’s rogue’s gallery.
Spider-Man 3 grossed $888 million worldwide during its theatrical run and is sure to be a swinging success on home video as well, especially with generous offering of extras. The two-disc Blu-ray version and the two-disc special edition DVD will feature more than six hours of all-new bonus materials, including a trio of featurettes spotlighting the work Sony Pictures Imageworks put into creating super villains Venom, Sandman and the new Green Goblin. Also included are a trio of features on the film’s spectacular stunts, a blooper reel, a Snow Patrol music video and two audio commentary tracks with cast and filmmakers.
