Warner Backlot Tour Draws Record Crowds

Warner Bros. Animation has announced that fans of all ages turned out in record numbers for its fourth annual Backlot Tour, an interactive experience that brought an exclusive backstage look at the inner-workings of the toon shop to 12 cities across the nation. The 79-day tour offering 42 events in 11 different states, attracting 1.45 million fans’nearly a quarter of a million more than participated in the 2006 tour of 13 cities.

The Warner Bros. Animation Backlot Tour was presented by Warner Bros. Animation, Microsoft’s Xbox and Eventive Marketing LLC, which specializes in producing experiential event marketing. The coast-to-coast traveling show stopped at three Six Flags theme parks, six state fairs and three local festivals in Boston, Philadelphia, Harrington (Delaware), New York/New Jersey, Columbus (Ohio), Milwaukee, Chicago, Minneapolis, Denver, Salt Lake City, Seattle/Tacoma and San Francisco/Oakland Bay Area.

Hyped as an ‘attraction within an attraction,’ the Backlot Tour provided behind-the-scenes activities, animation and sound studios and Xbox video game kiosks featuring Looney Tunes: Acme Arsenal and the racing game Flatout Ultimate Carnage, among other titles. The festivities also threw a spotlight on such popular Warner Bros. Animation series as The Batman, Legion of Super Heroes, Shaggy & Scooby-Doo Get a Clue! and Tom and Jerry Tales.
