Having enjoyed global exposure with animation for the hit environmental documentary An Inconvenient Truth, Auckland-based Flux Animation is celebrating its tenth anniversary with three DVD releases coming out over the next ten days. The first to hit retail is The Kiwi Cartoon Collection, a compilation of Flux originals funded in part by TVNZ and New Zealand On Air.
The Kiwi Cartoon Collection includes the series The Adventures of Massey Ferguson, which follows the adventures of a little red tractor, and Tamatoa the Brave Warrior, a show about a pint-sized Maori adventurer. The release is available now throughout New Zealand and online.
Available later this week is the re-release of Puzzle, Inc., the popular series of shorts that teaches preschoolers about matching shapes and colors through the escapades of simple geometric-shaped characters who ‘puzzle’ out their problems. Set to updated versions of classical music pieces, the show has appeared around the world on BabyTV.
Next week sees the release of The Best of Staines Down Drains, a series Flux co-produced with Flying Bark Prods. in Australia. Distributed by EM.Entertainment GmbH, the comedy about siblings who have adventures via a portal in a basement sink was the first large-scale production for Auckland. Flux hopes to start work on a second season or a Staines movie early next year.
Flux is currently at work on several national and global commercial campaigns, as well as the first season of the CG-animated series Master Raindrop, co-produced with Flying Bark, EM.Entertainment, Big Communications and the Media Development Authority of Singapore. Also in the pipeline at Flux are five new original series concepts being developed with the company’s U.S. representative, Rita Street of Radar Cartoons.
