France, Singapore Reach Understanding

The Media Development Authority (MDA) of Singapore and Canal France International (CFI), today announced the signing of a ‘memorandum of understanding’ designed to foster working relationships between media companies in the two countries. One of two proposed launch events planned for next year aims to bring together TV, film and animation producers from Singapore and France to discuss potential collaborations.

MDA is Singapore’s key government agency charting the development of the country’s media industry, and CFI is the exclusive operator of French state audiovisual cooperation initiatives abroad. The organizations are also planning a digital broadcasting workshop that will provide technical and policy training to support the collective effort of ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) countries to adopt a common digital TV broadcasting standard.

Earlier this year, France and Singapore embarked on their first-ever television co-production, D’j’ Vu, which is being produced by France’s Project Images Films and Singapore’s Mega Media and Six-Six-Eight (6-6-8). The signing of the memorandum was held as part of the AMF Country Showcase program at the sixth annual Asia Media Festival (AMF) at the Shangri-La Hotel in Singapore.
