TELETOON Canada and Jetix Europe have greenlit production of Breakthrough Animation’s new action-comedy series Jimmy Two Shoes. Developed in collaboration with both broadcasters, the show is slated to premiere in early 2009, offering lots of crazy creatures, gadgets and gizmos in addition to laughs.
Jimmy is an enthusiastic 14-year-old who, through a series of missteps, falls into the weird world of Miseryville, where everything is designed to inflict torment onto its inhabitants. The irrepressible boy stirs up fun and mischief in his new bizarre home, much to the chagrin of Miseryville’s Big Cheese ‘ Lucius Heinous the Seventh.
‘Jimmy Two Shoes has been carefully nurtured throughout the development phase,’ says Breakthrough executive producer and managing partner Kevin Gillis. ‘The show’s unique character relationships, set in the extraordinary world of Miseryville, gear up the potential to be a truly groundbreaking kid’s property. We are delighted with the creative development and marketing support that TELETOON Canada and Jetix Europe have given us.’
Other kids’ shows in production at Toronto-based Breakthrough Animation include Captain Flamingo for Jetix Europe and YTV, and Miss BG for TVO, France 5, Nickelodeon Australia and Cartoon Network U.K. In addition, the company is developing My Big Big Friend as a co-production with 2D Lab in Brazil, and is moving into primetime adult animation with the development of Foolz N The Hood and The Orphanage for CBC, and Producing Emily for Canwest Global.
