Narnia Sequel Trailer Debuts

C.S. Lewis’ classic literary saga continues on the big screen with Walt Disney Pictures’ and Walden Media’s The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian, scheduled to arrive in theaters on May 16, 2008. Fans can now get a glimpse of things to come, including some impressive CG animation and other effects, as the first trailer hits the web at www.narniaweb.com.

Shrek director Andrew Adamson, who helmed the first jouney to Narnia, is back at the helm for Prince Caspian, which has the young Pevensie siblings return to Narnia a year later, only to find that 1,300 years have passed and the magical kingdom has fallen into ruin. With the help of a certain animated lion with Liam Neeson’s speaking voice, they must battle an evil king and return the land’s rightful ruler, Prince Caspian, to the throne.

Originally slated to debut next weekend, Prince Caspian was back half a year, reportedly to avoid competition from such holiday releases as New Line Cinema’s The Golden Compass and Columbia Pictures’ The Water Horse. Based on the book by Dick King-Smith, that film opens on Dec. 14 and features a good deal of CG character animation as it tells the tale of a lonely boy who discovers an unusual egg and hatches a sea creature of Scottish legend.
