The digital wizardry of Warner Bros.’ Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix comes home today as the latest film in hugely successful series arrives on home video. The title is available on DVD, Blu-ray Disc and HD DVD as single-disc and as a two-disc special edition. Fans of the series can also rush to pick up a limited-edition 12-disc Harry Potter gift set that includes all five movies in the series.
Based on the fifth book in author J.K. Rowling’s best-selling saga, Order of the Phoenix has the young wizard entering his fifth year at Hogwarts and finding more trouble brewing behind its gates. Harry and Dumbledore come under fire for their warnings of Voldemort’s return as a bureaucrat begins to seize control of the academy. The pic features visual effects work by Industrial Light & Magic, Framestore CFC, Double Negative, Rising Sun Pictures, The Moving Picture Company, Baseblack, Machine and Cinesite.
DVD extras include additional scenes, an A&E documentary on the Harry Potter saga, several making-of featurettes and a feature titled ‘Fun and Games,’ where director David Yates and editor Mark Day show viewers what a difference a good edit makes, and allos viewers to edit a scene themselves using a special built-in editor.
The Harry Potter Limited Edition Giftset offers two-disc editions of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. There are also two bonus discs housing such extras as 14 interactive DVD adventure games, and more than three hours of all-new extra content from all five films. Warner Home Video is also throwing in such collectible premiums as a Harry Potter bookmark collection and four different packs of trading cards. The set lists for $119.97 in standard definition and $149.99 for the HD DVD and Blu-ray versions.
