Breakthrough Ent.’s upcoming animated kids television series, Jimmy Two Shoes, is spawning a pair of video games through a partnership between Breakthrough New Media and Toronto-based SilverBirch Studios, a member of the SilverBirch Inc. group of companies. SilverBirch will develop a mobile title to be distributed through Swedish based Global Fun, as well as an online flash game that will be housed on the series’ official website at Teletoon.com. Both games will launch in conjunction with the show’s debut in early 2009 on TELETOON Canada and Jetix Europe.
Jimmy is an enthusiastic 14 year-old kid who, through a series of missteps, falls into the weird world of Miseryville, where everything is designed to inflict torment onto its inhabitants. Always irrepressible, Jimmy stirs up the fun in his new bizarre home much to the chagrin of Miseryville’s Big Cheese’Lucius Heinous the Seventh.
The Jimmy Two Shoes interactive project has been funded through the Telefilm Canada New Media Fund and the Bell Broadcast and New Media Fund. Breakthrough New Media, the interactive division of Breakthrough Films & Television, has produced a number of award-winning websites and games that complement Breakthrough’s television properties. Recent releases include a Game Boy Advance title and a mobile game for the animated series Atomic Betty and an online game based on the animated series Captain Flamingo. Uh-Oh Flamingo! recently won the Excellence in Gaming award at the 2007 Canadian New Media Awards.
