Daily Variety reports speculation that Haim Saban and private equity firm 3i, parent company of British rights manager Chorion, are among a number of entities looking to purchase leading U.K. children’s programming company Entertainment Rights (ER). Plagued by falling stock prices, ER recently issued a profit warning to shareholders and confirmed that a takeover is possible.
ER’s catalog of television properties includes current favorites 3-2-1 Penguins, Postman Pat, Basil Brush and Rupert Bear, as wells as such classic properties as Felix the Cat, Casper, Clifford the Big Red Dog and Dick Tracy.
