Batman series director and two-time Emmy Award winner Nelson Recinos has joined Indo-Canadian animation incubator and producer Kahani World to make a $12-$15-million animated feature titled Game Access. The production is Kahani World’s second theatrical animation co-production, the first being Secrets of the Seven Sounds, a co-production with Virgin Comics. That film is slated for release in early 2009.
‘Our first animation theatrical co-production is built for a Hollywood release, while Game Access has been conceptualized keeping the Indian audience in mind,’ says Kahani World founder and CEO Biren Ghose. ‘We will be getting into production in April and the trailers should be out by October 2008. We are aiming for a 2010 release in India.’
Game Access revolves around two middle school girls, a nerd and a member of the in ‘crowd, who find themselves in the finals of a gaming tournament. Audiences will witness a battle that starts in the real world and moves into a virtual universe. Animation will be produced by Accel Animation, and the film will be dubbed in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Bengali and English. An animated series based on the film will also be marketed to broadcasters.
