Toon fans who didn’t make it to the wonderful Ottawa Animation Festival last year can get a taste of the event this Monday (April 24) at 8 p.m. at a special screening at Roy and Edna Disney CalArts Theater (REDCAT) in L.A.’s Disney Hall.
Curated by artistic director Chris Robinson, this year’s Best of Ottawa ’07 collection screening features Josh Raskin’s Oscar-nominated I Met the Walrus, Aaron Augenblick’s Golden Age, Michael Langan’s Doxology, Tom Brown and Daniel Gray’s t.o.m., Matthew Walker’s John and Karen, Jeff Scher’s L’eau Life, Pablo Zaramella’s Laspus, Signe Baumane’s Teat Beat of Sex, Shoji Goto’s OOIOO ‘UMO’ and several other shorts.
The 2007 Festival received a record number of entries, with 2078 film submissions from 73 countries around the world. Of the entries submitted, 97 were chosen to compete in the Official Competition. The 2008 edition is scheduled for September 17-21.
General admission to the REDCAT screening is $9 ; student and alumni get in for $7, and CalArts students, faculty and staff pay only $5 for the screening. For more info visit www.redcat.org
