Women In Animation International Inc. has announced that Walt Disney Studios has come on board as the orgainization’s 2008 annual meeting host and sponsor. Together, the entities will present panel discussion on animation shorts on Thursday, April 17 at Walt Disney Studios in Burbank. Arrival/sign-in begins at 7 p.m. and the WIA annual meeting will begin at 7:30. The shorts panel will follow from 8 to 9 p.m.
The ‘WIA’s Got Short Shorts’ program will be moderated by Rita Street, founder and president of Radar Cartoons LLC and former editor of Animation Magazine. She is also a WIA founder and executive board member. Panelists will include Carolyn Soper, VP of production for Walt Disney Animation Studios; Stevie Wermers, director of various Goofy shorts; and Dorothy McKim, producer of the Disney Shorts Program.
The event will be held in the Frank G. Wells Building on the Walt Disney Studios campus, located at 500 South Buena Vista in Burbank. Entrance and parking is at the main gate on Buena Vista. Organizers ask that those interested in attending RSVP to rsvp@womeninanimation.org no later than April 15. WIA members get in for free, but non-members are asked to give a $10 donation at the door.
