MacFarlane, Fox Ink Deal

With Family Guy and American Dad entrenched in its FOX Sunday-night lineup and the Family Guy spin-off series The Cleveland Show in development, 20th Century Fox Television gave Seth MacFarlane a sweet deal to keep him nailed down for a few more years. Daily Variety reports that the cartoon creator has signed an overall deal that extends his relationship with the netwrok through 2012. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Under the deal, MacFarlane will stay on as exec producer of Family Guy and American Dad, as well as The Cleveland Show, and wil continue to lend his voice to the projects. The contract, which has been in negotiation for the past two years, will not be affected by the law suit MacFarlane and other Family Guy writers recently filed against 20th Century Fox TV over the 2005 DVD release Family Guy Presents Stewie Griffin: The Untold Story.

MacFarlane and his company, Fuzzy Door, are developing a live-action sit-com with Family Guy consulting producer Gary Ganetti, and will likely put other shows in development with FOX during the next four years. A Family Guy theatrical movie is als likely to get the green light. In addition, MacFarlane has signed a deal with independent company Media Rights Capital to create shorts for Google and other web sites.
