Legendary comic book creator Stan Lee is exec producing a Showtime series about a gay superhero. The hour-long series is based on the book Hero by Perry Moore, who is writing the pilot script and is exec producing with Lee, Hunter Hill and Gill Champion, CEO of Lee’s POW! Ent.
The show will chronicle the adventures of an up-and-coming caped crusader who has more than one secret identity. It’s one of several new series in development at Showtime, including a Camelot project from The Tudors team of Michael Hirst and Morgan O’Sullivan.
Lee is busy overseeing Marvel Studios’ and Paramount’s comic adaptations Thor, The First Avenger: Captain America and Iron Man 2, in which he’ll no doubt have cameo roles. His last foray into television was SCI FI Channel’s reality series Who Wants to Be a Superhero?
