Brevig to direct hybrid Yogi feature

Eric Brevig, a visual effects supervisor who turned director on last summer’s Journey to the Center of the Earth, will helm a Yogi Bear feature that mixes CG-animation and live-action.

Like Journey, Yogi will be produced as a 3-D project, says The Hollywood Reporter. The look of the film is expected to be similar to that of Fox’s hit Alvin and the Chipmunks.

The script is being written by That ’70s Show executive producers Joshua Sternin and Jeffrey Ventimilia, and promises a new take on the classic Hanna-Barbera character.
