Friday the 13th Remake Attacks Box Office

Warner Bros.’ remake of the classic horror film Friday the 13th looks to make its mark on its namesake weekend.

Opening on 3,105 screens, Friday the 13th is this week’s widest-release film, followed closely by the romantic comedy Confessions of a Shopaholic from Buena Vista, opening on 2,507 screens. The week’s other major opener is The International, a thriller starring Clive Owen and Naomi Watts from Sony/Columbia that is opening on 2,364 screens.

These films enter a market that last weekend was lead by another romantic comedy, He’s Just Not That Into You, thriller Taken and the 3-D stop-motion feature Coraline, which remains the sole animated movie in wide release.
