Warner Home Video has announced a new trade-up program that allows owners of HD-DVD discs to upgrade to a Blu-ray disc of the same content and a Blu-ray customer loyalty plan.
The trade-up program, titled Red2Blu, allows owners of Warner titles in the discontinued HD-DVD format to upgrade to the Blu-ray version of the same title. Consumers in the United States can trade up virtually any Warner HD-DVD title (up to 25) for a small fee plus shipping and handling. The customer loyalty program is called the Warnerblu Buy 5 Get 1 Free program. The program is open to consumers in the United States and Canada who buy five participating Warner Blu-ray titles before April 6, 2010. The program requires users to create an account online and register their releases to get the free title.
