The Korea Content Agency, a government-funded organization, is set to launch this week with a $144 million annual budget for making video games, cartoons, TV shows and online content.
Named as director is Lee Jae-woong, a professor of public administration at Busan’s Dong-Eui U. and a former member of South Korea’s National Assembly, Variety reports. Yunjin Kim, star of the TV series Lost, will be an ambassador for the agency.
The annual budget will be used to develop content and promote local entertainment companies. The agency is a combination of five existing organizations, including the Culture and Content Agency, Game Industry Agency and the Broadcasting Institute.
