Longer Watchmen Gets Limited Release, Comic-Con Event

The director’s cut of Zack Snyder’s Watchmen is getting a limited theatrical release and a special BD-Live screening at Comic-Con to promote its release on DVD and Blu-ray.

The new cut of the film, which adapts the acclaimed graphic novel by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons, is about 25 minutes longer than the version that debuted in theaters in March and grossed about $107 million domestically

The cut will get a theatrical release in Los Angeles, New York, Minneapolis and Dallas, prior to its release on DVD and Blu-ray July 21.

The Comic-Con screening will be a BD-Live event that users of the service in North America can watch along with the audience, hear live commentary from and ask question of director Snyder. The screening, set for Saturday, July 25, will be archived for later viewing.
