Nick’s Rawlings Promoted, Takes On Three Pilots

Birkner Rawlings has been promoted to the post of VP of animation development for Nickelodeon/MTVN Kids and Family Group, and will oversee three new pilots for the network.

Rawlings previously was director of animation development, overseeing a slate that includes the upcoming Kung Fu Panda series. His previous experience includes director of creative affairs at Walt Disney/Pixar Feature Animation, and production and development jobs at Fresco/Madaro Pictures, Spyglass Entertainment and The Economic Journal.

The three pilots he will oversee are:

Robot & Monster, a CG-animated buddy comedy starring an ambitious robot and an upbeat monster. Created by Dave Pressler, Jeffrey Ventimilia and Joshua Sterning, the pilot will be directed by Sam Levine.

The Fleeps, which follows a pair of na’ve musicians, an alien warlord and his mother on a trip through space. Created by Tim McKeon, Dave Wasson directs this 2D series.

You’re a Bad Man, Mr. Gum, a 2D series based on the books by Andy Stanton, who created, writes and executive produces the pilot. Andy Bobrow also is serving as exec director and writer, with Damon Ross on board as producer.
