Acker won a Student Academy Award for the original, short-film version of 9 in 2004.

The films included in the showcase, which can be found online at http://filminfocus.com/focusfeatures/film/9/showcase, are described by Focus as follows:

‘ Li Marhaban’s End of the Line, about a lonely young woman.

‘ Tomek Baginski’s BAFTA Award-winning Fallen Art, a statement on the haunting impact of war.

‘ G’za M. Toth’s Maestro, an Academy Award-nominated short film that follows the Maestro as he readies for a big performance.

Oktapodi, also Academy Award-nominated, is about two lovestruck octopi. The film is directed by Julien Bocabeille, Fran’ois-Xavier Chanioux, Olivier Delabarre and Emud Mokhberi.

‘ J’r’my Clapin’s Skhizein, about a man who gets struck by a meteorite and lives, was nominated for a C’sar Award.

The feature-length version of 9 is distributed by Focus Features and opens Wednesday in theaters.
