Cleveland Leads Fox Animation Debuts

New animation returned to Fox’s Sunday night lineup, with the premiere of Family Guy spinoff The Cleveland Show making a big splash.

Fox overall placed second to NBC’s night-leading Sunday Night Football, lead by the season premiere of Family Guy, which drew about 10.2 million viewers, up 16 percent from last year, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Cleveland drew 9.4 million viewers, posting a 44 percent increase over King of the Hill‘s debut last year. American Dad, the third Seth MacFarlane-produced series of the night, drew 7.1 million viewers, up 13 percent.

The Simpsons kicked off its 20th season by drawing 8.2 million viewers, down 7 percent for last year.
