Columbia Set to Play with He-Man

The He-Man and the Masters of the Universe movie has found a new home at Columbia.

The feature film project based on the 1980s toy line and animated series had been in development at Warner Bros. until recently, when the studio and property owner Mattel’s differing views on the direction of the movie quietly killed the deal, writes The Hollywood Reporter.

The Columbia version will start from scratch, with Escape Partners attached to produce the live-action film.

Escape, which is run by Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal and Steve Tisch, produced such recent films as The Taking of Pelham 123, Knowing and The Pursuit of Happyness.
