The Jim Henson Co. will be shopping at MIPCOM for production partners to help it tuck in a new half-hour series for preschoolers starring the Pajanimals.
Pajanimals has been airing since last year as a series of 78 seven-minute shorts on Sprout, a preschooler entertainment service available on TV, on-demand and online. Henson will be meeting at MIPCOM with potential co-production partners on its plans to make 26 new half-hour episodes of the property.
The Pajanimals are four puppet characters created by Jeff Muncy who help preschoolers prepare for bedtime through imaginary journeys that touch on issues such as sleeping through the night, brushing your teeth before bed and being comfortable with the lights out.
‘Our hopes for the new extended length episodes of Pajanimals is that it will help our young audiences worldwide transition from daytime into a peaceful evening routine in the same way that the two-minute segments did,’ said Sam Ewing, head of international sales for Henson.
MIPCOM is set for Oct. 5-9 in Cannes, France.
