It’s a super week on the home video shelves, with Warner Bros.’ original animated feature Superman/Batman: Public Enemies vying with DreamWorks’ hit Monsters vs. Aliens for animation fans’ attention.
Superman/Batman: Public Enemies (Warner Bros., $19.98 DVD, $24.98 Special Edition, $29.99 Special Edition Blu-ray) is the most recent DC Universe original animated DVD release. Based on the comic book storyline by Jeph Loeb and Ed McGuinness, the animated version is directed Sam Liu and executive produced by Bruce Timm.

Monsters vs. Aliens (DreamWorks, $30.99 DVD, $39.99 Blu-ray) was a huge hit and a landmark in the evolution of 3-D stereoscopic animation. The film is available both on its own and as part of a two-pack titles Monsters vs. Aliens / Bob’s Big Break 3D (DreamWorks, $37.99 DVD).
Also out this week is Wizard of Oz 70th Anniversary Ultimate Collector’s Edition (Warner Bros., $24.98 DVD, $69.92 Ultimate Collector’s Edition DVD, $84.99 Blu-ray). It’s not animation, but it’s a real classic lots of animation fans surely will enjoy revisiting.
Back to animation, children of the 1980s will surely love He-Man And The Masters Of The Universe: The Complete Series (Mill Creek, $24.98) and He-Man And The Masters Of The Universe: Origins (Mill Creek, $14.98).
Other animation releases due out this week include A Muppets Christmas: Letters to Santa (Disney, $26.99 Extended Edition DVD), Naruto Shippuden Vol. 1 (VIZ, $24.92), Pokemon Elements Vol. 3: Water (VIZ, $9.98), Pokemon Elements Volume 4: Electric (VIZ, $9.98), Super Mario Bros.: Out West / Mario Spellbound (NCircle Entertainment, $9.98) and Super Mario World: Yoshi the Superstar (NCircle Entertainment, $6.99).
