Fans of Family Guy won’t be able to catch their favorite program on the air in Venezuela, after a recently aired episode drew fire from authorities for allegedly encouraging marijuana use.
According to the Associated Press, the government has announced it will levy fines on cable broadcasters unless they stop broadcasting the show, which just began airing its eighth season in the United States.
The announcement was made by Justice Minister Tareck El Aissami, who was reportedly outraged by an episode in which the show’s characters launched a campaign to legalize marijuana.
The Venezuelan government is preparing new regulations and requirements for cable television that would, among other things, force them to air the frequent speeches of President Hugo Chavez.
