A trio of European organizations have funded a new initiative called CASPER aimed at spurring the creation of new pilots for animated series.
CASPER, which stands for Creative Animated Series Pilots in the Euro-Region, is funded by the Centre Regional de Ressources Audiovisuelles, Wallimage and the Flanders Audiovisual Fund. CASPER’s goal is to stimulate co-production in the Euroregion Nord Pas de Calais, the Walloon region and Flanders and attracting funding to produce those series to a high standard.
The effort has an initial budget of ‘1 million, 75% of which is provided by CRRAV, Wallimage and VAF. The remaining 25% will come from the participating producers. The maximum funding given to a pilot through the initiative is ‘250,000.
Each of the CASPER supported pilots will be a co-production between producers from the three regions involved : Nord – Pas de Calais (France), the Walloon region (Belgium) and Flanders (Belgium). Completion of the first CASPER pilots is scheduled for September 2011.
Rules and regulations of CASPER can be found on www.animatedpilots.eu.
