The Walt Disney Studios continues to reorganize its management, promoting Bob Chapek to oversee distribution.
Chapek was previously in charge of the studio’s home entertainment division, and will report to new studio chairman Rich Ross.
The studio also gave additional responsibilities to roduction president Oren Aviv and
Alan Bergman, who will oversee studio franchises, post-production, Disneynature and The Muppets Studio. Bergman also will continue to guide operations including business affairs and legal.
Jim Gallagher, president of marketing, is resigning ‘ one of 20 executives and employees laid off by the studio. A new top marketing executive will be named soon, according to the studio.
“The way today’s audiences and consumers experience our movies, home entertainment, and other multi-platform programming is rapidly changing as new technology offers more options than ever before,” Ross said in a statement. “The studio restructuring will embrace new possibilities and opportunities, and find innovative ways to provide quality entertainment that is readily available.”
