Lindsay-Abaire Writes Guardians for DreamWorks

DreamWorks Animation has chosen David Lindsay-Abaire to adapt The Guardians, William Joyce’s upcoming series of children’s books, into a feature film.

Lindsay-Abaire wrote the book and lyrics for DreamWorks’ Shrek the Musical and he previously worked as a writer on the animated feature Robots, reports Variety. His live-action credits include an adaptation of his Pulitzer-winning play, Rabbit Hole, due out next year and a co-writing credit on Spider-Man 4.

The Guardians is about a team that consists of Santa Claus, Jack Frost, the Easter Bunny and the Man in the Moon and protects children from evil.

The movie, due for release Nov. 2, 2012, will be directed by Peter Ramsay and co-directed by Joyce. Ramsey directed the Monsters vs. Aliens Halloween special and was head of story on the Monsters vs. Aliens feature.
