Simpsons Sweeps WGA TV Writing Category

The Writers Guild of America has nominated five different episodes of the same program ‘ The Simpsons ‘ for its best writing for an animated TV series award.

The five nominated episodes, announced Monday, are:

‘ ‘The Burns and the Bees’ (The Simpsons), Written by Stephanie Gillis; Fox

‘ ‘Eeny Teeny Maya, Moe’ (The Simpsons), Written by John Frink; Fox

‘ ‘Gone Maggie Gone’ (The Simpsons), Written by Billy Kimball & Ian Maxtone-Graham; Fox

‘ ‘Take My Life, Please’ (The Simpsons), Written by Don Payne; Fox

‘ ‘Wedding for Disaster’ (The Simpsons), Written by Joel H. Cohen; Fox

The award, which was the only animation category in this year’s television section, will be presented in a ceremony held simultaneously in New York and Los Angeles on Feb. 20.

The Simpsons has long been a favorite of the WGA, and this is not the first time the group has given all its nominee slots in the animation category to the show. The last time it happened was in 2006.

The Simpsons has won the category the past six years.

The WGA first presented an award in this category in 2003.
