The Fox network is developing an American take on the British sci-fi hit series Torchwood, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The series, which spun off BBC’s popular Doctor Who franchise ‘ the title Torchwood is an anagram of Doctor Who ‘ has aired two seasons in the U.K., followed by a third five-episode miniseries as season three. The series has been a strong ratings earner in the U.K. and earned a strong cult following in America through airings on BBC America.
The Fox version is being produced by BBC Worldwide Productions with the pilot script coming from series creator Russell T. Davies, who would be joined on the project by veteran BBC producers Julie Gardner and Jane Trantner.
The trade also suggests that some of the original cast members ‘ most likely American actor John Barrowman, who plays the lead role of immortal Captain Jack Harkness ‘ could cross over to the Fox version if the pilot is picked up for a series.
Series focused on a secret team of investigators that warded off incursions from aliens and other-dimensional threats.
