The National Film Board of Canada, Warner Home Video and the producers of the Oscar-nominated animated short film Madame Tutli-Putli have produced a new short film adapting author Maurice Sendak’s Higglety Pigglety Pop! or There Must Be More to Life.
The short film, a mix of live action and animation, will have its premiere Feb. 28 at the Montreal International Children’s Film Festival. It will appear as a bonus feature on the March 2 DVD and Blu-ray release of the Where the Wild Things Are feature film. A NFB DVD release will follow this summer.
Chris Lavis and Maciek Szczerbowski direct the film, which features the voices of Meryl Streep and Forest Whitaker and is produced by Spike Jonze, Vincent Landay and Marcy Page.
Higglety Pigglety Pop! or There Must Be More to Life tells the story of Jennie, who leaves a life of comfort to pursue her dream of becoming the star of the World Mother Goose Theatre.
