Lionsgate, Crest Warm to Norm of the North

Lionsgate and Crest Animation Studios will make Norm of the North their next stereoscopic 3D animated feature.

The movie will be the second of three features the parties have agreed to produce, with the first, Alpha and Omega, due out in October, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The movie, written by Steven and Daniel Altier, is about a polar bear and three lemming friends who are forced by melting ice caps to head south to New York where they become corporate mascots for the very company responsible for wrecking their arctic home.

An early 2012 release is planned.
