The Oscar-nominated short films are coming to cable.
Both the animated and live-action nominees will be made available starting March 3 for viewing on the Movies On Demand service on the Comcast, Time Warner Cable, Cox Communications and Bright House Networks cable systems.
The program, presented by Shorts International and Magnolia Pictures, will be available in standard definition and HD. The cost for these programs varies from $2.99 to $5.99.
The animated short film program also will include two films that made the short list but were not nominated: The Kinematograph and Runaway.
“These short films are great entertainment, featuring some of the world’s best filmmaking” said Carter Pilcher, chief executive of Shorts International. “These filmmakers are the talent of the future. We are thrilled to be able to bring their films to cable viewers across the country.”

The winners will be announced at the 82nd annual Academy Awards, set for Sunday, March 7, at the Kodak Theater in Los Angeles.
