Animated Star Wars Comedy Series Set

Lucasfilm Animation is dipping once again into the Star Wars universe.

The company has announced it is developing an animated comedy series set in the famous fictional galaxy far, far away, according to a report in Variety.

Seth Green and Matthew Senreich, the creators and executive producers of Adult Swim’s Robot Chicken series, will be involved on a creative level, while The Daily Show‘s Brendan Hay will be a writer on the show. Jennifer Hill of The Backyardigans will produce and Todd Grimes of Back at the Barnyard is directing.

No further details on the series have been announced.

This is the second Star Wars outing for Lucasfilm Animation, with the second season of action series Star Wars: The Clone Wars airing on Carton Network.

Animated parodies of Star Wars have become quite popular in recent years, with Robot Chicken having produced two Star Wars-themed episodes and Family Guy retelling the original trilogy in a series of DVD specials, of which two have been released so far.
