FMX Sets Full Program Schedule

The 15th edition FMX, set for May 4-7 in Stuttgart, Germany, has finalized and announced the complete program for this year’s event.

The conference covers a wide range of topics, including animation, visual effects and games.

Among the highlights of this year’s key topics:

‘ A new section on Crossmedia that reflects the convergence of film, TV, computers, consoles and mobile devices. It includes multiple tracks that focus on topics like production, Flash platforms, and a look at the most recent developments and trends for these complex media.

‘ A retrospective on 35 years of Industrial Light and Magic.

‘ Specific films to be spotlighted include Alice in Wonderland, 2012 and Iron Man 2.

‘ A stereoscopic 3D track that looks at storytelling, 3D in games and virtual moviemaking.

‘ Animation-specific presentations will look at such projects as Disney’s The Princess and the Frog, the upcoming Disney film Tangled, Aardman’s A Matter of Loaf and Death, DreamWorks’ How to Train Your Dragon and The Gruffalo.

‘ The Visual Effects Society will participate in the visual effects section, which will include a session with John Bruno called ‘From Abyss to Avatar ‘ A 23 Year Journey with James Cameron’; as well as presentations on such films as District 9 and Shutter Island.

‘ A games track, put on with the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences, that includes looks at such games as Batman: Arkham Asylum and God of War 3.

‘ A Focus track that looks at various regions or countries. This year will include a U.K. focus looking at films like Sherlock Holmes and Clash of the Titans, as well as looks at Hamburg, Scandinavia and China.

‘ A 5D Conference focused on immersive design.

FMX also includes a trade floor, workshops and partner programs, including this year an Animation Production Day; and plenty of parties and networking opportunities.
